Understanding Astigmatism + Farsightedness So I Can’t Get Contacts? -FAQ
My doctor wouldn’t issue an Rx for contacts for me because the Rx would be too complex for contacts. He said that the effectiveness of them would be much lower than glasses because of this Rx. Also, I cannot get Laser surgery because of the astigmatism. Does this mean I am stuck in glasses for life?

you can get lasik if you have astigmatism! i had astigmatism and got lasik. you should go to another doctor and get a second opinon. don’t think that your doctor is telling you the truth! i have friends who have what you have and they have been able to get contacts and eventually later get lasik.

It depends entirely on what your prescription actually is. It is rather difficult to give an opinion on contacts for you with no information at all to go on.
Lasik is much more limited for correcting farsightedness than nearsightedness.If you are in the fairly high + powers, like over + 4.00, then I don’t think lasik can fix that.
If you don’t trust your Dr’s opinion, you can always go see another one and see what they say.
