    It’s not a required surgery thats why it’s after 18 ( in California )

  2. Ed Says:

You have to stop growing first which means your eyes have to also stop growing. That happens in the early to mid twenties. Doctors will not perform that surgery until then. Good luck.

Not just in Cali but the entire U.S. can you not have laser surgery until you are 18. It’s an elective procedure meaning you don’t have to have it and therefore you have to be 18 before you can legally sign to do it. Now as far as when you could have it done, yes you could do it when you turn 18 but your eyes aren’t fully developed by then and it could change meaning you would have to have the laser done again. I agree with the other comment, wait until your mid 20′s before doing it. Things will be more stable then. Keep in mind though, that doesn’t mean you will never have to do it again. People believe once they have laser eye surgery, it corrects their vision for the rest of their life and that couldn’t be further from the truth. As long as you are alive, your vision could change. I tell people all the time, Lasik surgery corrects your vision for right now and not 1, 5 or 10 years down the road. Nobody can predict what will happen that far in the future. I’ve seen people have it done 10 yrs ago and every year after that they are still 20/20 or better. Then I have seen people have it done 10 yrs ago and every year after that they had to go back and do it again because their eyes changed again. It’s a good surgery but you really must consider if you are willing to accept the risks of surgery as well as the benefits. Everyone looks at how good it is but nobody ever looks at what could go wrong and how it will affect their vision and life if it doesn’t go well. Remember, no surgery is 100% effective. People have heart surgery every day but that is still not a promise that they will never have another heart attack.

25, assuming you have myopia, it will get worse until your early to mid twenties.

  5. Kenny P Says:

im 17 and im doing it in 13days but i suggeste you to see a specialist on that and they will say if your eye is good for the lazer and btw the chances that your vision will come back is 5% of chance if your unlucky…personally for me its not about age but its more if your eye is suitable for the laser eye surgery.
