From what I know laser vision sugery is MADE to correct vision like yours. I do not believe it corrects the astigmatism however, but I could be wrong. If I were you, I WOULD RUN, NOT WALK to the opthemologist and ask if you are a candidate

Yes it is, one problem is though, when you go for the test , you have to have enough cornea, they will measure that,, i think they have a newer test out now, that doesnt require as much of a flap as the lastix surgery does, i had mine done in 2000 , and doing great with it,, Good luck , hope you can get it done,, it is well worth it…

you can…my vision in my left eye was 20/200, now is 20/40. i had terrible astigmatism and was on the borderline as to whether the surgery was possible. after a lifetime of glasses and contacts, i only wear reading glasses…….i’m still amazed and so glad i did it. just make sure you have a reputable doctor.

Before you go see the lasic doc, don’t wear contacts for at least 2 weeks, so cornea will be thicker

Your vision has to be stable for at least 2-3 years before considering LASIK as a procedure for you. Once you have determined that your prescription has been about the same for that length of time or longer, then the next thing you need to do is go get screened. Any good LASIK center will usually screen you for free. They will give you a comprehensive eye examination along with dilation and do all of the tests necessary to determine whether or not you are a candidate. Yes they will need to measure the thickness of your cornea, but they will also need to rule out whether or not you have any diseases in the eye, or any problems in the retina. The procedure can be done on your prescription, and can also be done on patients with astigmatism, but again it will all depend on how think the cornea, or the front surface of your eye is. Also try to find a reputable doctor. I am an optometrist and I have seen many horrible surgeries go wrong, and that is typically found in places that have surgeries and testing done as if it were a cattle call. Go to a surgeon and place that will spend time with you and only you. Good luck!

9.5 diopters is a BIG diagnosis and a big prescription and your cornea would require alot of correction through laser to help you and I am not sure that it is possible but the only way to find out for sure is to consult and Ophthalmologist who does Vision Laser.
I really suspect that the answer here is NO,it can’t be done but the ONLY way to know for sure is to talk with a Vision Laser Ophthalmologist and I am sure if called their office and simply just stated your question. . . “My correction is +9.50 Diopters in both eyes, could I be a canidate for Laser Vision Correction?” Depending on how they answer your question will determine the questions. . if any.. .you might have.
