Trying To Understand If You Qualify Will The Air Force Let
Because i heard if you do really good in college and are serious about being a pilot they would let you get corrective eye surgery to be a pilot.

Probably not, as there’s no guarantee you’d be able to complete flight training. In that case, they’d consider it wasted money. With the threatened major defense budget cuts, they’re going to be watching every penny for quite some time to come.

You have to understand that the competition for pilot’s training is VERY high. So think about it…why is the Air Force gonna shell out $$$ on you when there are literally a thousand other candidates who are qualified and don’t need it? If you really want to be a pilot, then you are gonna have to figure out a way to get your eye surgery on your own…and then HOPE that the Air Force would be willing to give you a WAIVER for a commission, let alone see if you qualify for flight training.

If you meet the physical standards, then there is no reason for you to have surgery!

Yes, in May 2009 the Air Force began accepting pilot candidates who had undergone vision correction. That said, getting a pilot’s chair is challenging. Assume you will be at an administrative disadvantage, since it will likely be a factor used when comparing you to other pilot candidates when they have to decide who to cut.
