Is It Worth Paying More For Lasik Eye -411

I see various prices for Lasik eye surgery. Is it worth paying more for Lasik eye surgery? Or is it a pretty straightforward procedure now and there is no reason to pay more for the procedure. Like to hear from anyone who got Lasik and what they felt about it.

I have a friend who is getting it done soon. I think getting it done is worth it. Maybe not right now but in the long run. I don’t wear contacts but I know they can get pricey. Then times that by the rest of your life.

In LASIK, price does matter. If you are finding it for a lot less, then that surgeon (hopefully they are certified) is using old technology. The older the technology, the greater the risk involved in the surgery and the less precise the vision correction. The newest technology (read: more expensive) no longer uses a blade and also has a new wavefront guided algorithm for the vision correction which reduces symptoms like glare and halos. A surgery to a very important part of my body is not something I would want to bargain shop for.

How much is your sight worth to you? There are Lasik clinics that use low prices to get client to schedule a consult. At the time of the consult, you will find out that are paying much more than the $500 or whatever price is advertised. There are Lasik clinics that can push out many procedures per day, but they also make more surgical errors and you cannot always rely on their professionalism. Check with your closest Eye or ENT hospital or your Ophthalmologist for a referral to a Board Certified Lasik Surgeon, then try to find references from his patients, investigate the Lasik procedure that best fits your needs and be very sure you are a good candidate. All Lasik Clinic and/or Surgeons provide a consultation, which is often free, if you use there services. Prepare a list of question to ask the Surgeon at you consult. Obviously, no surgeon can guarantee you a perfect post surgical result, but if the Surgeon is hesitant to answer any of your questions or actually does guarantee an excellent result, find another surgeon. You will have to sign a paper stating that you are aware of the risks and side effects of Lasik at the time you commit to the surgery.

Most people experience satisfactory to excellent post surgical results with an increase in visual acuity to between 20/20 to 20/40. The most common side effect of Lasik is irreversible dry eyes. However, there is a small percentage (about 5%) who experience night blindness, halos, star bursts and loss of vision. These side-effects are usually permanent and often cause depression and loss of quality of life issues See “Sources” below for additional information on Lasik procedures and side effects

There are a couple of different procedures depending on the condition of your eyes. Both me and my wife have had the surgery and I can tell you it is well worth the price. I suggest you shop around and compare prices. The difference is going to be in the services you get after the surgery. Good Luck!!!
