There is also Presbyopia which is condition known to occur usually at the age of forties; it has characteristic similar to that of Myopia where near objects cannot be seen clearly however, this occurs after hyperopia has been tried to correct with contact lenses or glasses.
While the FDA has approved laser eye surgery to correct vision conditions, there are a lot of questions which one may have in mind.
