Learn About Blind In One Eye, Is There A Treatment?

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

So my left eye is partially blind. No blurriness, however; if I focus on something with my left eye, it’s almost like there is a blank spot, like the color of when you close your eye, it’s not really there. But the peripheral vision around the center I can see certain parts of. I have no depth perception, and I would like to know if there is any sort of treatment available? Something to restore at least some vision and give me some sense of depth perception.
I am 23, I haven’t ever had the vision in the eye. From what I understand the patch only works for younger children.

My other eye is perfect, I see fine out of it.

Is There Are Any New Vision Correction Technology

Saturday, July 30th, 2011

There’s laser eye surgery and PRK, but they can be unreliable and there aren’t any guarantees, plus I’ve heard in some cases night vision was impaired slightly.

Is there anything currently being researched that’s any better? I know stem cells have been used to cure blindness in a few cases, but could they conceivably be used to cure short and long sightedness in the near future?

A Web Article: Is There A New Cure For Optic Nerve

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

I walked in on the tail end of a news story this morning, in which a girl with failing vision was cured by a research center in Europe. As described, her condition was having something to do with a deteriorating optic nerve, genetically passed on by her father. The treatment was a computer chip placed somewhere behind her eye, restoring her vision. This disease sounds exactly like what I have, and I was hoping someone had some further information on it? Thank you.
